IKEUCHI USA, Inc. The Fog Engineers

Cooling Division

We propose potential applications for cooling nozzles.

Such nozzles can be divided into two general types: nozzles for cooling steel sheets and plates in steelmaking facilities, and nozzles for cooling gas. Demand for a third category of nozzle-those used for inlet-air cooling in power plants has grown following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Moreover, new applications for cooling of factory facilities and equipment are also being developed.

In order to realize IKEUCHI's mission of providing nozzles to a wide range of fields and customers, the Cooling Division is charged with proposing possible utilizations for nozzle products. However, even when using top-notch products, nozzles alone may not always fulfill the customer's demands.

In situations where careful pairing of airflow types and nozzles is an important factor in meeting customer needs, we offer optimized airflow design, and when controls are vital, we design control systems. Many customers ask us to help them cut costs, which can often be achieved through improved control methods.

Because we have spent so many years devoted to learning everything possible about nozzles, we have confidence in our ability to meet customer demands in this area as well.

Despite being involved in a wide variety of business activities, the Cooling Division is not capable of everything. We accept orders only after giving full consideration to whether the Division's specialized knowledge and capabilities are relevant to the customer's situation.

Specialized cooling-technology engineers for everything from hardware to systems and support

We entered this field of business in 2000,after which we embarked on the development of cooling systems that utilize the latent heat of vaporization phenomenon in fog production (evaporative cooling) as a new technology to complement standard approaches such as natural cooling, air cooling, sprinkling water and water cooling.
Since then, we have utilized the characteristics of both sensitive heat and latent heat to provide cooling systems for solids, gases and other substances, supporting customers in everything up through after-sales services.
We create a fog cooling system that meets our customer’s needs, ranging from large-scale fog cooling systems for steel plants and chemical factories to smaller products for cooling dies and molds.

Three pillars of Cooling Division operations

From initial discussions to cooling system installation

We carefully discern customer needs through meetings and work together with them to create optimal cooling systems.

From initial discussions to cooling system installation
  • The customer contacts us and we engage in consultations with them regarding possible system installation.
  • We carefully listen to the customer's concerns, problems and so forth through discussions; describe our past projects and successes; and assess (take measurements of) their current operating environment.
  • Based on information gathered through assessment of the customer's worksite, we make full use of our proprietary knowledge and experience to come up with optimal solutions.
  • Based on calculations to determine factors such as nozzle quantities and return-on-investment effectiveness, and through simulations and other such measures, we offer a concrete installation proposal(s) to the customer.
  • After careful consideration of nozzle and equipment layouts, control functions and other such factors, we design and draw up plans for the customer's unique system.
  • We carry out tests of the designed products and systems at our testing facilities, at plants and other locations, and on actual customer equipment in order to verify real-life cooling effectiveness.
  • During system installation, we come to the installation site to fine-tune and perform test runs of the new equipment. If so requested by the customer, we can also arrange contracted installation operations for purchased products and systems.
  • Following installation, we visit the customer's worksite to confirm product operations, check cooling effectiveness, provide product maintenance, etc. We respond promptly if any problem should occur with the new system.
